ART 3120 - Creative Coding for Artists II This is an advanced studio course where students expand and transform their art concepts and practices through digital art explorations, computed creations, physical computing, and technological experimentations. Students expand the discourse of creating art on the computer and its physical, conceptual, cultural expressions, and dissemination tactics to present to, and interact with, audiences in the contemporary art world. Students explore and integrate professional experiences and abilities to utilize creative code and other technologies working in static or interactive 2D, 3D, and time-based mediums (4D).
Requisites: One course from ART 1200, ART 1210, ART 1220 or ART 1230 AND any two from: ART, VICO, MDIA studio course at 2000-level or higher Credit Hours: 4 Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts. Lecture/Lab Hours: 4.0 studio, 2.0 lecture Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Students will be able to create computer-generated advanced static, animated, and interactive digital artworks and experiences for the virtual and physical display/space.
- Students will be able to actuate the practice of creative coding and physical computer programming for artists.
- Students will be able to apply technical vocabularly and skills to critique and discuss internet, electronic, digital, and computer-generated artworks.
- Students will be able to express a unique creative voice and a personal approach to using visual arts programming and interactive art as an expressive tool.
- Students will be able to incorporate advanced practical experiences and abilities to integrate creative code in static or interactive 2D, 3D, and time-based mediums (4D).
