THAI 2110 - Intermediate Thai I Culture based approach to increased language proficiency. Students continue to develop listening, reading, speaking, and writing skills as they study diverse history and customs of Thai speakers.
Requisites: THAI 1120 Credit Hours: 4 General Education Code (students who entered prior to Fall 2021-22): 2CP Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts. Lecture/Lab Hours: 4.0 lecture Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - The student will be able to apply vocabulary, idioms and sentence patterns that they have learned through their own writing activities, such as preparing presentations, writing short essays, and so forth.
- The student will be able to understand, recognize and apply visual cues and specific phrases in Thai into their daily conversations.
- The students will be able to demonstrate his or her knowledge of festivals celebrated in Thailand, traditional beliefs and customs associated with the process of naming a child, as well as loan words from Pali and Sanskrit.
