ANTH 3960 - Human Variation Explores human biological variation including morphology, genetics, physiology, demography and behavior through an evolutionary lens.
Requisites: ANTH 1010 Credit Hours: 3 Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts. Lecture/Lab Hours: 3.0 lecture Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Students will be able to explain how humans vary due to age, sex, environmental selection pressures due to latitudinal and attitudinal differences, and other variations within an evolutionary framework.
- Students will be able to critically analyze and evaluate various anthropological theories and methodologies used to study human biological variation.
- Students will be able to explain how the study of human biological variation contributes to our understanding of the interplay of biology and culture.
- Students will be able to discuss the historical context of the development of the biological concept of race.
- Students will be able to conduct original research and communicate their findings in written and oral formats.
