EDMC 3010 - Curriculum Development in Middle Childhood Focuses on developing a deep understanding of pedagogy and curriculum development for middle childhood learners with an emphasis on planning and instruction, assessment, curriculum design, standards, and professional collaboration.
Requisites: EDMC 3000 and (EDTE 3720 concurrent) Credit Hours: 3 Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts. Lecture/Lab Hours: 3.0 lecture Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Students will be able to plan and implement middle level curriculum that develops young adolescents competence in subject matter.
- Students will be able to identify various instructional strategies that are developmentally appropriate for young adolescents.
- Students will be able to explain the interdisciplinary and integrated nature of knowledge.
- Students will be able to develop and administer assessments and use them as formative and summative tools.
- Students will be able to compare and contrast the difference between intrinsic and extrinsic student motivation and describe different approaches to increase student motivation.
