ANTH 3850 - Cultures of Southeast Asia Survey of cultural diversity present in island and mainland Southeast Asia with emphasis on the application of anthropological theory and method to the understanding of particular sociocultural systems.
Requisites: ANTH 1010 Credit Hours: 3 Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts. Lecture/Lab Hours: 3.0 lecture Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Compare constructions of family, gender, religion and society across the region.
- Develop ability to critically analyze ethnographic scholarship on Southeast Asia.
- Gain breadth and depth of knowledge of Southeast Asian cultures and societies.
- Think critically about processes of social and cultural change in the Southeast Asian context.
- Understand how large-scale political and economic processes impact local communities in Southeast Asia.
