EDEC 2600 - Global Early Childhood Education: Programs and Practices Global Early Childhood Education: Programs and Practices provides an in depth study of global early childhood care and education programs. National and international early care and education programs that focus on the needs of the whole child in a global community are investigated, and include learning in multilingual settings by Dual Language Learners or English Language Learners. Topics discussed in the course include: global perspectives in early childhood education; impact of cultural and linguistic diversity on teaching and learning in globalized multicultural and multilingual early childhood settings; research on literacy and language development, acquisition, and teaching and learning processes; issues and factors of globalization on early childhood care and education; environments that support child and family well being in a global society; and the concept of international child rights.
